As the Chief Marketing Officer at Coinbase, Kate is focused on cultivating breakthrough creativity. Introducing a new financial system demands new kinds of storytelling. She’s passionate about helping people feel part of something bigger, and inspiring them that the future is ours to build. When she was a child, Kate was asked if a glass was half full or half empty. She couldn’t understand the question. She has always been a determined optimist.
As Coinbase’s first CMO Kate is creating a new Internet native model of marketing purpose-built for the next generation. Prior to Coinbase, she spent over a decade at Meta. She was one of the company’s first marketers and helped scale the user base from 500M to 3B. Her most recent role at Meta was leading brand and product marketing for Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger + Facebook. She has overseen marketing for consumer, developer, enterprise and opinion elite audiences.
Kate’s work has been awarded multiple creative prizes, including the Direct Grand Prix at Cannes where she also served on the inaugural jury of the Dan Wieden Titanium Lions which awards game-changing creativity.
Kate and her husband are avid equestrians and skiers. They live in the Sierra Nevada mountains with their 4 horses, and two toddlers. Motherhood is the hardest and best job Kate has ever had.
